Return to Sydney

Went back into Sydney today for a last run through the tourist sites. Went on the monorail, up the Tower, the bridge, and St. Mary's cathedral - funny to find a new (1928) 'Gothic' cathedral. There's a great view from the Tower. Happened across a really nice part of Sydney - the Rocks. Next time you're in town go there!

Kiama

Went down to Kiama today.

Klingon in the cave

We drove up to the Jenolan caves from Penrith and came across this sight on the way

Inside the caves. We actually met a guy there dressed in full ceremonial battle dress who was working on a Klingon version of the guide to the caves. It takes all sorts....

Off to the Blue Mountains

We are driving up to Penrith today. It will be our base for two nights as we explore the Blue Mountains. Hope the Tom-Tom works properly!

Berry

Went to a small town called Berry today (I've got loads of pictures Damon :)

Also went catching sand worms for fishing - a rather bizarre thing to do.

Another trip to Sydney

Went to see the aquarium and took a ferry ride around Sydney harbour today. Aquarium has lots of sharks and other interesting critters. Having seen the bridge we decided that we want to do the bridge climb after all.

Symbio

Went to Symbio today. Saw some Koalas and Kangaroos

Back from Sydney

Got the train into Sydney today, took about an hour and a half.

Its a very busy, big, cosmopolitan and interesting.

We were a bit too late to visit any museums etc so we just wandered down to Paddy's Market, the ferris wheel, the Japanese gardens and Darling Harbour.

We definitely have to get back there again

Sydney

Off to Sydney today on the train. Takes about an hour from where we are. Will update later

Back on the net

Just back from Burrum Heads near Hervey Bay. We spent a week there with my sister and her family. The highlight of the trip was a trip to Fraser Island. Lake MacKenzie is a fresh water lake in the middle of the island - mostly lifeless and a bit cold but an amazing sight nonetheless. The weather in Queensland was nice, sunny and mid twenties during the day.
Woonoona feels cold tonight, almost like a frosty evening back home.
We hope to spend the next week or so doing some day trips into Sydney.

Going tomorrow!

We're off tomorrow. C and D in hospital - good luck and good health to you both. House nearly ready for housesitters who arrive tomorrow - who would've thought it would take so much time. Kids all set, elder a bit nervous. I've decided we will never be 100% ready for this so 90% will have to do. Bags still not packed, going in 18 hours (oh dear)

4 Days to go

Only four days to go, lots to do around the house before our friends arrive to house and cat sit while we are away (stuff I should have done at ANY other time over the past year :)

Counting down the days

My first blog ever! Six days to go before we head off to Australia. Anticipation mixed with anxiety starting to set in. No packing done yet but hopefully all of the paperwork is ready. Trying to decide whether to bring techie stuff with me or take a complete break. I'll probably relent and fill the netbook with technical junk (which I will never read ;).
